2024

Congratulations to the student poster award winners, Michelle Okyere and Shumyla Lopez, who were mentored by Lisa Kilpela (UT Health San Antonio). Michelle and Shumyla (pictured below) presented their poster as a talk at the CPLAC business meeting titled Digital Mental Health Interventions: A Selection of Feedback from Understudied Populations.

Congratulations as well to our two inaugural student travel award winners. Chloe Yadav (pictured below) was mentored by Joanna Herres (The College of New Jersey) and presented a poster titled An Examination of Victim Blaming and Self-Blame as Predictors of Severe PTSD Symptoms following Tonic Immobility During Campus Sexual Assault.

Eleanor Humphrey (pictured below) was mentored by Emily Blevins (Massachusetts General Hospital) and presented a poster titled Actionable Anger: The Role of Gender in Moderating Donations to Causes Promoting Racial Equity.

2023

Members collaborated on a CPLAC Clinical Practice Statement affirming the value of engaging in clinical practice as a faculty member at a liberal arts college. The statement describes the many benefits of a faculty member’s clinical practice for students, faculty, institutions and the community.

2020

Congratulations to our student award winner, Hope Rutter, under the mentorship of Kathy Berenson (Gettysburg College). Their poster is titled #Bopo: The Effect of Body Positive Social Media Content on Women’s Mood and Self-Compassion. Other co-authors on the poster are Kaley Michael, Brittany Repak, Cindy Campoverde, and Thao Hoang.

Congratulations to our student award winner, Elizabeth Lomas, under the mentorship of Kerstin Blomquist (Furman University) and Carolyn Black Becker (Trinity University). Their poster is titled Dissemination of a Dissonance-Based Body Image Program in Church Settings: A Pilot Study.

We had great SIG activity at this year’s meeting of ABCT. Chris Lootens moderated a very well-attended panel on Preparing the Next Generation of Scientist-Practitioners: Disseminating Principles of CBT Through Undergraduate Teaching with Kathryn Bell, Kerstin Blomquist, Laura Knouse, Sarah Markowitz and Lauren Stutts.
